Upon arrival to the UCC, a nurse will assess your medical condition and assign a ‘triage’ category. You will be asked some questions about yourself including your name, date of birth, your address, Medicare number and what issues bring you to Urgent Care.
Doctors are available 24/7 via our Telehealth partnership with Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) for any patients triaged 3-5. VVED will provide you with a plan of care, prescriptions, pathology and radiology imaging referrals. Any patients determined by the nursing staff to be requiring emergency care or triage category 1 and 2 will be discussed with an Adult Retrieval Victoria clinician.
In UCC you will be treated by highly trained registered Nurses.
Your condition will determine whether you will be admitted to the hospital, transferred to another hospital or be discharged home.
Acute Care
Corryong Health has eight acute hospital beds. Patients requiring a hospital admission can be admitted by one of the General Practitioners/ locum GPs or via the Telecare specialists, if deemed appropriate. Our acute ward offers the following services:
- Slow stream rehabilitation
- Acute Care
- Post-Acute Care
- Palliative Care*
- Emergency Respite Care
We also have a High Dependence Unit (HDU) which is used to treat and stabilise critically unwell clients for transfer to larger emergency facilities.
*Palliative Care
Palliative Care is a holistic approach and is provided by a multidisciplinary skilled team including medical officers, allied health, home care, district nurses, volunteers, social workers, grief counsellors and nursing staff. Our aim is to focus on wellness while meeting the needs of people whose illness is not responsive to curative treatment. We also provide ongoing support to the individual and family as and when needed.
